DAYTONA BEACH -- A 19-year-old Oviedo man was fighting for his life today at Halifax Medical Center after being shot several times in a hallway at the Ocean Sands Hotel, according to Daytona Beach police.
The unidentified man was shot in the head, groin and hand in the 4 a,n, incident on the eighth floor of the hotel, 1024 North Atlantic Ave.
A 28-year-old Daytona Beach man, whose identity was not released, was expected to be charged in the shooting, Police Chief Mike Chitwwod said, adding the shooting was Spring Break related and may have involved the sale of drugs. Chitwood did not specify whether the alleged shooter was already in custody.
Spring Break is ongoing this weekend, along with Black College Reunion, both principally on the beachside in greater Daytona Beach.
