ORLANDO, Fla. -- Rain is in the forecast through Columbus Day weekend along the I-4 tourism corridor from Orlando to Sanford and Daytona Beach, though the sunshine is expected closer to the holiday. 

Orlando has received roughly 0.82 to over 2 inches of rain this week, driven by a soggy weather pattern involving a stalled frontal boundary and tropical moisture.

Accumulations have reached roughly 2.09 to 2.24 inches for the month so far.

Additional rainfall in the 1 to 4 inch range is expected as a stalled front and tropical moisture continue to bring scattered to widespread thunderstorms.

Here is the extended forecast for Central Florida from the National Weather Service in Melbourne:

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 5am, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 75. East southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers before 8am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8am and 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 90. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Saturday Night: Showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11pm and 2am. Low around 76. South southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Sunday: A chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Sunday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. South southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Columbus Day: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
