DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- It was a white lie of sorts for this birthday gal who is seeking a municipal office in the 2020 elections.
"After a long consideration and praying about everything that’s going on in our city, I’ve decided to run for Daytona Beach mayor and resign from being a candidate for Daytona Beach City Commissioner Zone 4," Stacy Allen Cantu wrote on her Facebook page. "Please stand with me now!"
Then came the zinger: "April Fools..."
Cantu explained: "Thought everyone could use a laugh today and being a April Fools baby how could I resist?"
Cantu is challenging incumbent Rob Gilliland for the zone 4 seat on the city commission.
