NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- State Rep. Dorothy L. Hukill, R-Port Orange, whose district includes Southeast Volusia, presented the 2008 District 28 Student Leadership Award to Andrew Hart, a graduating senior at New Smyrna Beach High School at the school's senior awards ceremony.
The award is given to students throughout the district who have demonstrated a high achievement of leadership skills, maintained above average grades, and served the school and community.
A committee of teachers and administrators recommended the nominees and final selection was made by Hukill.
"It is a great honor to present these awards to such outstanding students from our District," Hukill said. "I want to extend congratulations to Mr. Hart for this great achievement."
