Sunshine State warming up

It's still cold out here this morning, but the worst is behind us, so says the National Weather Service in Melbourne, with highs expected to reach 61 degrees. Tonight will drop to 48 and then it's supposed to warm up this weekend with highs in the upper 60s. Now that's more like the Sunshine State we've become accustomed to.
Thankfully, the local citrus crop was not damaged by the nasty wind-chill situations over the past couple of nights -- really for the latter half of this week.
With Valentine's Day coming up, the ferneries of northwest Volusia are praying for a harvest that is hard-freeze free.
We didn't have any delicate plants that we felt needed to be covered, but we did take our rabbit inside three days ago and sheltered him in the laundry room.
It's just after 9 a.m. with this writing and it's warming up a little so that's a good omen for the day.
Of course, it could be worse. We could be in the Midwest or back in New York or New England where the mid 20s is actualy normal.
