On the eve of my 50th birthday, I couldn't be more proud of our standing in the community with NSBNews.net -- not only here in New Smyrna Beach, but across Volusia County in the public and private sectors. Since our April 7, 2008, launch, we have been accessed by more than a million unique visitors. Because we are growing so fast, we are going to have a new umbrella name: Headline Surfer.
We were Florida's first fully-online newspaper and in six to eight weeks we are going to become Florida's first statewide Internet newspaper with 24/7 news from every Florida city and town. How are we going to accomplish this? The answer is simple: Through the power of the Internet and Google. Already, we provide 24/7 video coverage from the Associated Press, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New York Post and Bloomberg business.
We'll still be NSBNews.net locally, but we'll also have a brand new umbrella name: Headline Surfer. NSBNews.net will be under that umbrella, along with VolusiaNews.net, DaytonaNews.net, PortOrangeNews.net, DeltonaNews.net, etc.
You'll be able to access us through HeadlineSurfer.com, HeadlineSurfer.net, HeadlineSurfer.us, HeadlineSurfer.org, HeadlineSurfer.info, HeadlineSurfer.biz, HeadlineSurfer.co, HeadlineSurfer.mobi and HeadlineSurfer.xxx.
In fact, we'll have well over 300 domain names, which not only will give us more of a statewide presence, but a national one as well.
We are also subscribers now to Getty photo services, which means we can provide photos of the biggest newsmakers in the world at any given moment -- day or night.
We are also proud to announce that we are brand new members of the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce. This new membership and media partnership will allow us to develop more advertising and promotional opportunities to help us grow. Many small business owners will have the opportunity to grow with us.
Peter Mallory and I, along with my wife, Sera, and our numerous community bloggers are so appreciative of the community's support, including our advertisers, faithful readers and the countless people throughout Volusia County who believe in us.
All I can say is, "Thank God for freedom of the press." Yes, journalism lives on the Internet.
You can wish me a happy birthday by telling all your friends about "Headline Surfer." God bless!
