NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 45-year-old woman was struck and killed by a motorist in a Toyota pick-up truck Friday night while crossing the 1900 block of State Road 44, New Smyrna Beach police said.
Lisa E. Pouliat, of New Smyrna Beach, died of her injuries at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach shortly after the 9:55 p.m. accident. The New Smyrna Beach and Volusia County fire departments responded to the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital by EVAC ambulance.
The victim's family was notified of her death, police Sgt. Christopher Roos said.
William Lee Headley of DeLand, the driver of the pick-up truck, called 911 to report the accident. He will not be charged, police said, adding the victim's relatives said she was on her way to Pub 44 when she was hit.
