DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The weather forecast for greater Daytona Beach calls for mostly sunny skies throughout the week ahead with seasonal daytime days between 79 and 81 degrees.

The greatest threat of rain could occur on Friday with a 50 percent chance of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Here is the extended forecast for Daytona Beach and other nearby coastal cities and extending southwest to greater Orlando along the Interstate 4 tourism corridor: 

This Afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Southeast wind around 10 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Monday Night: Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind around 5 mph becoming west after midnight.

Tuesday: Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 79. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest after midnight.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north northeast in the afternoon.Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest after midnight.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. Southwest wind around 10 mph.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Southwest wind around 15 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Windy, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Windy, with a north northeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
