ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orange Cunty Sheriff's Office has identified the man shot and killed by a deputy during the execution of a search warrant on May 16 in an apartment as 32-year-old Tyrone Devon Henderson Bartley.
Sheriff John Mina said deputies and SWAT were executing a search warrant in the 5600 block of Lejeune Drive when they entered the apartment and encountered a man who reached behind a door.
Mina said that’s when a deputy shot the man, who was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The sheriff said Henderson was in an apartment in the 5600 block of Lejeune Drive when deputies and SWAT arrived with the warrant on that Friday afternoon. The sheriff said Henderson reached behind a door, and a deputy shot him. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Mina said a rifle was found behind the door where Henderson was reaching for it.
Here is a synopsis of the fatal encounter as described by the sheriff:
"As our SWAT team entered the room, they encountered a man who was reaching behind a door where a rifle was located. One deputy fired his service weapon, striking the man. Our deputies rendered first aid, and he was transported to the hospital where, unfortunately, he later passed."
Mina continued: "We were at this house a couple of weeks ago in reference to a domestic violence call. While we were there, deputies found trafficking amounts of fentanyl and cocaine and two loaded guns, one of which was stolen. So this search warrant was related to an ongoing narcotics investigation."
Mina added: "This case just illustrates how dangerous this is for our deputies — going into a home where we know loaded guns have already been recovered, where we know trafficking amounts of fentanyl and cocaine have already been recovered. So that's why we used our SWAT team — highly trained individuals who are trained specifically to do this."
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the fatal shooting. The deputy is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the FDLE investigation, which is standard protocol.
Mina said the search warrant stemmed from a case a few weeks ago when deputies found fentanyl, cocaine, and firearms during a domestic violence response. He said one of those firearms was stolen.
Mina added that the body camera video captured the fatal incident.

DELAND, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that Bob Hallett, the CEO of Skydive DeLand, was killed in a motor vehicle accident on West New York Avenue.
Troopers said the crash happened just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, where West New York Avenue connects with North Shell Road.
The crash involved a 2018 Toyota Tacoma and a 2023 RAM truck, according to the FHP.
Hallett, who was driving the Tacoma, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver and passenger in the RAM truck were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"I've known Bob my whole life," said Jessica McCorduck, a family friend, who told WESH Ch. 2 Orlando. "He was like an uncle or like a fun uncle."
McCorduck says that when her dad, who worked at the airport, passed away, Hallett stepped in.
"Helping, like, liquidate my dad's things and helping to know what to do," she added. "Because I was only 18, I had no freaking clue what to do with any of those eight planes and three hangars full of stuff."
Here is a synopsis of the fatal crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol: Troopers responded at 7:52 a.m. on State Road 44 (New York Avenue) at the intersection of Shell Road in DeLand. Preliminary evidence shows the crash involved a 2018 Toyota Tacoma and a 2023 RAM 2500.
Bob Hallett, 74, the driver of the Tacoma, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ram, a 46-year-old Edgewater resident, and his passenger, a 51-year-old woman also of Edgewater, were transported to Advent Health Deland with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to a news release from the FHP, Hallett, who was on Shell Road, upon reaching the intersection of State Road 44, failed to yield at the stop sign and cut into the path of the Dodge Ram. The Dodge slammed into Hallet's driver's side and killed him instantly, troopers said.
Volusia County Councilman Don Dempsey, also a flier, told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that Bob Hallett, considered a pioneer in the skydiving community, was also well-liked in the aviation community. “He was a pioneer in the skydiving industry here in DeLand, a destination for skydiving,” Dempsey said. “He is responsible for DeLand becoming the skydiving capital of the world.”

Deputies responded to the scene at the Isles at East Millenia Apartments on Lake Fountain Drive and spoke with the woman, who confirmed her boyfriend had threatened her with a knife, the undersheriff said.
The woman spoke to deputies at the scene and said Hannigan had threatened her with a knife. The deputies intended to arrest him for aggravated assault, but he barricaded himself inside the apartment. Over the course of the next hour or so, deputies tried to communicate with the 57-year-old man, who was barricaded inside an apartment. The victim, his girlfriend, was out of the apartment and not in danger.
After trying to talk with the man for several hours, at one point, he came out of a room and "moved toward the deputies with a knife, and two deputies fired their service weapons, striking the man," Canty said. Paramedics, who were already staging at the scene, transported him to the hospital, where he later died.
Todd Hannigan, the knife-wielding suspect fatally shot by deputies, was previously arrested on Feb. 28, 2025, on charges of sexual battery with a weapon and domestic violence, and was out on bail when he was killed, according to a charging affidavit on file with the Orange County Clerk of the Court.
