Deltona man dies in motorcylce crash

DELTONA -- A 23-year-old city man was killed Saturday when he lost cotrol of his motorcycle while speeding and struck his head on a fence post, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office reported. He was not wearing a helmet.
 
Steven L. Cruz was driving his 2007 Suzuki 600 eastbound on
Eustis Avenue "at a high rate of speed," according to a Sheriff's report.
 
"As he approached a curve near Galaxy Middle School at approximately 4 p.m. he lost control of the motorcycle and went over a curb," the report stated. "He crashed into a chain link fence in front of the school and struck his head
on a fence post."
 

The Deltona resident was pronounced dead at the scene by EVAC ambulance paramedics at 4:13 p.m.
