SAMSULA -- An 81-year-old Massachusetts woman was fighting for her life overnight at Halifax Medical Center after she was flown there earlier Tuesday by a Sheriff's helicopter following a three-car crash on State Road 415, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Maria Dryver was a passenger in a station wagon, driven by 56-year-old Michael Dryver, also of the Bay State, when they were struck from behind by a sport utility vehicle while stopped at a traffic light at Kerey Road, between Stste Road 44 and Pioneer Trail.
The station wagon was northbound on S.R. 415, and stopped at the traffic light, when it was struck by the SUV driven by Joshua Norman, 33, of New Mexico, who had pased two other vehicles, before crashing into Dryver. A third vehicle was also caught up in the collision, the FHP said.
The highway patrol said charges will likely be filed against Norman once the accident investigation has concluded. No one else was seriously hurt beside the elder Dryver.
