
Glen Wade, 61, made his emergency landing after hearing the engine of his 1972 Grumman airplane sputter after taking off from the New Smyrna Beach airport just after 7 p.m., according to Kim Miller, spokeswoman for the Florida Highway Patrol.
She said he turned back toward the airport but then decided to make an emergency landing at 7:10 p.m.
The highway patrol arrived and after the engine was checked and the pilot determined it was OK to fly, troopers blocked off the northbound lanes for a few minutes at 8:45 p.m. and the pilot took off from the interstate

A small airplane made an emergency landing just before 7:30 tonight in a grassy area off Interstate 95 in Edgewater, according to the regional dispatch center for local police departments.
There were no injuries reported from the plane touching down in a grassy area near the northbound lanes of I-95. The Florida Highway Patrol responded and is investigating.
