Sheriff Ben Johnson's annual Battle of the Badges charity fishing tournament returns to New Smyrna Beach today.
As usual, there will be plenty of activities, both on the water and on land, between 10 a.m.-3 p.m., when the fishing tournament weigh-in will take place at Riverside Park.
Among those scheduled to fish in the tournament are Sheriff Johnson, Nassau County Sheriff Tommy Seagraves, retired Lake County
Sheriff Noel Griffin, Jr., Sheriffs Youth Ranches President Roger Bouchard and several local media personalities. Other activities at the
park will include food booths, vendors, a car and boat show, midway games, raffles, law enforcement demonstrations and a children's fishingclinic.
At 4 p.m., the party shifts to Pub 44, 1889 W. Canal Street, where there will be an awards ceremony, a public safety olympic challenge, live music and additional photo/video opportunities.
All the money raised by the event goes to support the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. We encourage you to come out and enjoy the festivities and help show the community's support for a very worthy cause.
