Children can make peace postcards at NSB library on Jan. 16

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Children ages 6 - 11 can create peace postcards at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library from 1 - 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.

Pam Coffman, curator of the Museum of Florida Art, will lead the free session and encourage children to use their own words and images. Selected postcards will be displayed in the museum’s "Picturing
Peace: A Community Vision" display from March 12-28.

The activity introduces topics of war and peace to students and draws connections to the museum’s featured exhibit, “Paradoxes Portrayed: Drawings and Assemblages by Ummarid Eitharong.”

Pre-registration is required and may be made by calling the library at(386) 424-2910, ext. 111. Visit www.volusialibrary.org for more information about the library’s StArt (Stories + Art) partnership with the Museum of Florida Art.

The New Smyrna Beach Regional Library is open seven days a week at 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.
