NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A man was struck and killed by a Florida East Coast train sometime before 6 this morning, New Smyrna Beach police said.
The body was found near the railroad tracks about 100 yards south of Canal Street by an engineer of a northbound train shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday
New Smyrna Beach police Sgt. Christopher Roos said an initial investigation revealed the victim, a white man, was struck by a southbound train at approximately 11 p.m. Monday night.
No other information on the victim was released until police can notify his relatives.
