NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- NSBNews.net gives a farewell sendoff for "Scrappy," the 10-foot-long Risso's dolphin who was found beached at water's edge Friday and cared for five hours by a small group of responders before the deep-sea male was transported by SeaWorld Orlando for care at its marine facility. Scrappy, who was sickly and malnourished, died Saturday morning. NSBNews.net salutes the half dozen responders, two of whom we can identify by name, Kathy Karlander of Indianapolis and Nicole Carni of New Smyrna Beach, director of the NSB Visitor's Center. This video tribute is to them and the little boys and girls (and yes, adults, too) who showed so much love and concern, which reinforces why New Smyrna Beach is such a great place to live and visit.
