Welcome to New Smyrna Beach Homecoming!

Flamingo Follies Art & Craft Festival on Flagler; Eat Street Restaurants on South Causeway

NSBNews.net videos and photos / What is more small town Americana than high school football with the cheerleaders and marching band, an old-fashioned street craft fair and restaurants galore offering the best in culinary delights than New Smyrna Beach Homecoming 2011? Even in this entrenched economy, families from across Central Florida can enjoy a day or even a weekend getaway in New Smyrna Beach under beautiful skies. The city could see as many as 20,000 visitors.
The videos show the Cudas cheerleaders in action a couple of weeks ago and the second video highlights the 2009  Flamingo Follies art festival on Flagler Avenue drew 12,000 people over that weekend. Also this weekend is the inaugural Eat Street on the South Causeway based at Norwood's Restaurant & Wine Shop, featuring foods from an array of restaurants on Third Avenue. In the photo shot this afternoon, Monty and Jascelyn Boles of Edgewater, and their 5-year-old son Chase, enjoy a late-afternoon meal at Denny's.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Everything that is good about New Smyrna Beach is on display here tonight and through the weekend for locals and visitors alike, including the 6 a.m. Sunday's Paul DeBruyn Memorial 38th annual 15K/30K Run from Norwoods Restaurant. Welcome to New Smyrna Beach Homecoming 2011 and what better way to start it off tonight than with Cudas football under the lights.

Sally Smith, general manager of the Denny's Restaurant on State Road 44, said she and her staff are ready for tonight's big crush after the Cudas Homecoming football game with evening shift personnel tying in with the overnight crew.

The 10-year overseer of New Smyrna Beach's only 24/7 family restaurant loves the sound of the cash register draw flying open as her servers deal with the overflow. From a steady stream of breakfast and lunch crowds, there was a slight break in the mid-afternoon hours. By dinner time, the place was filling up: "We're ready," she said. "This homecoming is a great event for everyone and affordable for families.
