Houston had been dealing over the years with drug and alcohol addiction and a tumultuous relationship with ex-husband Bobby Brown. The cause of death is not yet known. CNN is reporting her body was found in a Beverly Hills hotel room. Houston's passing was announced earlier tonight by her publicist to the major media outlets.
Houston, a Grammy-winning singer and star of the movie, "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner, has sold 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide since she hit the scene in the mid-1980s. She rocketed to fame back then with seven consecutive No. 1 hits on the Billboard charts.
