After all, he's qualified by petition to run for the district 5 seat on the Volusia County Council held by term-limited incumbent Patricia Northey representing Deltona, DeBary and Enterprise.
"Well, it's official," Giorno wrote on his Facebook page. "I've qualified by petition for the Volusia County Council District 5 election. And I'm the only VETERAN in the race. We collected almost 900 petitions in the 47 days since I filed as a candidate. Thanks so much to everyone who helped. I'm taking a deep breath and getting ready to come out fighting. Please contact me if you're willing to lend a hand."

Others vying for the seat with Giorno include Rich Gailey of DeBary, Deltona City Commissioner Fred Lowry, Jr. and Donald Mair.
Andy Ferrari of Deltona withdrew earlier this month.

Also running are first-term Deltona City Commissioner Webster Barnaby and term-limited Holly Hill Mayor Roy Johnson, Jr.
