DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Henry Frederick has won five journalism-industry awards for covering NASCAR-related events at Daytona International Speedway over the past two decades, capped off by a first place award last year for his on-scene reporting of the race car that went airborne and tore into the catch fence at the end of the Coke Xero 400 race, with debris injuring several spectators.

In all, he has won five journalism awards for news related to NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway among dozens of journalism industry awards he has amassed in his news reporting career primarily in the areas of breaking news and investigative reporting.

Frederick was embedded in the civil trial brought by Teresa Earnhardt, widow of NASCAR driving legend Dale Earnhardt in convincing a circuit judge to seal his autopsy photos in the months following his fatal crash in the 2001 Daytona 500.
