Ukraine reports fighting despite Putin's 'Easter truce'

DW News / Sunday, April 20, 2025 / Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russia is continuing to attack Ukraine, despite Vladimir Putin's unexpected declaration of an Easter ceasefire. The Ukrainian President said his country would respect the truce if Russia kept to it. And he responded to the Russian president by proposing to extend the ceasefire for another 30 days. Putin ordered a halt to fighting to mark the Christian holy day. However, Kyiv said clashes were continuing in border regions, though there has been no independent verification of the claims.
