BREAKING NEWS: Port Orange Cops: Two Walgreens employees shot & wounded inside; gunman found dead out front of self-inflicted gunshot

PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- Two Walgreens store employees were shot and wounded, and the shooter took his own life in the front parking lot at 1620 before cops arrived.

There was one customer inside the store at the time of the shooting who was unharmed, police said. Several other Walgreens employees inside were uninjured as well.

Here is a synopsis of what occurred as described by Port Orange Police: 

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at approximately 5:26 p.m., the Port Orange Police Department responded to a report of an active shooting at the Walgreens located at 1625 Taylor Road.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, who was found in the parking lot with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Preliminary investigations revealed that a shooting had occurred inside the store. Two employees sustained injuries. The employees were transported to nearby hospitals.

Investigators on the scene have determined that one customer was inside the store during the incident. That customer was not harmed.

At this time, the identities of the employees and the suspect are being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

This incident remains under active investigation. Law enforcement officials are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. More details will be released, and information may change as it becomes available.
