SANFORD, Fla. -- Sanford Cops on Charlie Shift responded to a five-vehicle crash on Saturday at the 25th Street and Park Avenue intersection caused by a 41-year-old motorist who was arrested on several charges.
Timothy Lambert, a driver traveling eastbound on 25th Street, caused the crash, police said.
As Lambert approached, vehicles were stopped at the 25th Street and Park Avenue traffic light. Lambert failed to stop and hit one of the vehicles, triggering a chain reaction crash involving three additional vehicles. Lambert was issued citations for causing the collision.
Officers initiated a concurrent criminal investigation based on witness reports that Lambert exited his vehicle immediately after the crash and tossed a bag in nearby bushes. The bag was later recovered and found to contain drug paraphernalia as well as a substance identified as amphetamines/methamphetamines. Further investigation revealed that Lambert left a 7-year-old child unattended in his vehicle while attempting to hide the drugs. A 9mm handgun was also located in the glove compartment, easily accessible within the car, police said.
