DELAND, Fla. -- An Off-duty state probation officer shot his wife with his service revolver, then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide in the married couple's home in the overnight hours following Halloween, DeLand cops said.

After an extensive investigation into the deaths of Scott Waldron, 49, and Padmini Waldron, 47, the DeLand PD's Criminal Investigation Division concluded it was a murder-suicide.

DeLand cops said they went to the home at 9097 Cape Cod Road in reference to a report of a cardiac arrest by a relative and found the bodies in a bathroom. The Waldrons had been married for 12 years. Neighbors said the couple had lived in the area for less than a year and that they had limited interaction with them. Several residents recalled seeing the wife handing out Halloween candy in the neighborhood.
