SANFORD, Fla. -- This morning, Seminole County, in partnership with the City of Sanford, hosted the 25th Anniversary Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, in recognition of the 9/11 terrorism attacks on US soil.
Sheriff Dennis Lemma, members of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, and the SCSO Honor Guard joined local public safety partners and community members to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to remember the courage and sacrifice of our nation’s first responders, and to recognize our local heroes.
"Twenty-five years later, we remain united in remembrance and gratitude," Sheriff Dennis Lemma said. "We will never forget."

Floridian Bob Morrison said of the 9/11 terrorist attacks: "Twenty five years ago, Americans showed that in a time of crisis, despite our differences, we could all come together for the greater good. The American Spirit. "
Morrison, formerly of New Smyrna Beach and now living in Tallahassee, added: "That Spirit seems so far away right now. I really hope we can find it again without another horrific tragedy. Never forget 9/11 or 1/6/21."

. Solemn ceremonies at Ground Zero in New York City, the Pentagon, and Shanksville
honored the nearly 3,000 lives lost a quarter-century ago.
