DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- David Lee Davis, a veritable jack of all trades -- one-time Daytona cop, twice-failed candidate for elected office, political consultant, blogger, and substitute teacher -- also was a suspected pedophile, who used his local church ties to give the appearance of piety and kindness -- was arrested Wednesday at his workplace on a warrant by Volusia County sheriff's deputies and ordered held without bail, pending a first appearance.

Palatka man gets life in prison for murdering girlfriend

PALATKA, Fla – Jose Maldonado Sr. pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the gunshot killing of his estranged girlfriend and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison earlier on this Friday, a spokesman for the State Attorney's Office announced.
