Entrant Webster Barnaby incensed with what he sees as patently racist comment to 'minimize' his candidacy and that of County Council at-large incumbent Joyce Cusack

DELTONA -- One day after Headline Surfer® broke the story that highly-respected Deltona City Commissioner Webster Barnaby had entered the race to challenge Volusia County Council at-large incumbent Joyce Cusack, the Daytona Beach Beach News-Journal was playing catch-up on the newest entrant, but it's a quote attributed to the third candidate in the race that is a major whopper.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Coverage of Webster Barnaby's candidacy for the at-large Volusia County County seat against incumbent Joyce Cusack and her Council rival Pat Northey shot right to the top of the search engines within 30 minutes of posting on HeadlineSurfer.com.

There was the main announcement interview story and a sidebar candidate snapshot on Barnaby that were the freshest offerings Wednesday night. Even searches for Cusack and Northey turned up the Barnaby coverage. What was exciting though was much older coverage, including the Headline Surfer® endorsement for Barnaby in his drive for a seat on the Deltona City Commission. And when it comes to photos and graphics, the results are even more dominant in the 24/7 internet newspaper's favor. In fact, not a single image from print media showed up.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Deltona City Commissioner Webster Barnaby, 54, is the third candidate to file to run in the 2014 elections for the non-partisan at-large seat on the Volusia County Council against incumbent Joyce Cusack along with Patricia Northey, the current district 5 seat holder who is term-limited. Northey and Cusack are Democrats while Barnaby is a Republican.

DAYTONA BEACH -- The two-day 2014 Chipper Jones Stetson Baseball Golf Classic is set for next month at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, the primary fundraiser for the Stetson baseball, said Chris Belvin, assistant detractor of athletic communication for the university.

The classic is being held in The Thursday and Friday dates in conjunction with the start of Stetson’s 2014 season, which begins that Thursday against against Ole Miss. in DeLand.

"One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Stetson baseball," Belvin emphasized in a press release to Headline Surfer®. "All participants will receive tickets to Stetson’s game against Ole Miss, among other amenities.

APOPKA -- A 16-year-old boy was backing up his family's SUV in the driveway of his relative's residence, not knowing that in an instant his life would be changed forever.

The teen had no idea that 2-year-old Amaris Martinez had wandered out of her family's home in the 300 block of Avalone Drive, just as he was backing up the vehicle the afternoon of July 17, striking the toddler, troopers said.
