Martin Truex Jr wins NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Championship

HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- Martin Truex Jr. held off Kyle Busch to win the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Championship on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

It was the eighth win of the season for Truex.

It was the first Monster Energy Series title for the Denver-based Furniture Row Racing as well. It was the second Championship 4 appearance for Truex and the No. 78 team — he finished fourth in 2015.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Stewart-Marchman-Act Foundation raised nearly $140,000 at its annual Dinner Celebration and Auction featuring NASCAR driver Austin Dillon at the Daytona 500 Club at Daytona International Speedway, event organizers said.

This year's big draw was Austin Dillon, driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. The funds raised came through sponsorships, live auction sales and tickets for prizes.
