Photos for Headline Surfer / Volusia County School District's graduation rate is 76 percent, equivalent to a C grade. In terms of a grade, neighboring counties Seminole (80.3 percent), Flagler (80.4 percent) and Orange (81.3 percent) would all get a B- and Brevard would get a B+.

Our vets deserve better

EDGEWATER, Fla -- I am incensed at the treatment of the men and women of the military who were promised sign on bonuses to reenlist, did their duty and are now being asked for that money back.

Some I have heard have paid the government back more than $50,000 because not only are they being asked to return the original sum but they are also being charged interest. How can this be happening?

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- A 63-year-old man trying to cross US 1 was struck by a motorist in the 1100 block of the southbound lanes and died shortly after being airlifted to Halifax Hospital on Thursday, New Smyrna Beach cops said.
