ORMOND BEACH -- Shannon Pursley may very well have told the police she was divorcing her husband leading up to the fateful early morning hours of New Year's when he allegedly opened fire outside the Rockin' Ranch, killing her friend and almost her, court records show she has not petitioned for a "disolution of marriage."

ORMOND BEACH -- Hope Tinsley-Whitford never got her hug from Keith "Shorty" Roberts, who had promised her husband during a New Year's party at the Rockin' Ranch that he would stop by on the way home and wish her a "Happy New Year's" because she was too sick to go out and celebrate.

What was to be a gateway to a prosperous 2011, instead turned into a living hell at 2:30 a.m. Saturday with Roberts' pick-up truck sprayed with gunfire by his alleged killer, 37-year-old Christian Pursley, armed with a handgun.

Christian Pursley, 37, of Ormond Beach is being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder in the New Year's shooting at the Rockin' Ranch that resulted in the death of Keith Roberts, 36, of South Daytona, and injuries to the alleged gunman's estranged wife, Shannon Pursley, from shattered glass resulting from gunfire into the deceased man's vehicle.

ORMOND BEACH -- A regular patron at the Rockin' Ranch in Ormond Beach lost his life during the Early morning hours of New Year's Day and his alleged killer is not going to gain his freedom any time soon having been ordered held today without bond at his first appearance at the Volusia County Branch Jail.

SOUTH DAYTONA ─ Decked out with hundreds of lights, oversized snowmen, candy canes, lollipops and dozens of other whimsical touches, the Lewis home, located at 2044 Hickorywood Dive,. won the 2010 South Daytona Mayor’s Award for Holiday Lighting.

The award is done by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and awarded to the best decorated home during the holiday season, South Daytona spokeswoman Jeanne Willard said.

SOUTH DAYTONA - Warner Christian Academy Superintendent Mark Tress will be hoisted onto the roof of the school 2 p.m. Tuesday by a Giles Electric bucket truck) and live there for 24 hours straight to raise funds for need-based scholarships and facility improvements.

During a recent fundraising auction, Tress challenged parents and students to raise $20,000. In return, he promised to spend 24 hours on the roof. That was a challenge that Warner supporters could not resist.

SOUTH DAYTONA -- On January 1, South Daytona Fire Chief Tad Derr will assume the role of president of the Volusia County Fire Chiefs’ Association. In addition, he was recently appointed vice chair of Daytona State College Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board.
