Music: A simple five letter word. One that holds so much importance in our society. Many people state that without music they would be lost. I am one of those people.

To me, music is not just an activity, it is a way of life. Music is my life.

Without it, in my opinion, the world would be boring. It is a way for the people of the world to share their creativity. Just like painting, drawing, or writing, music is an art. An art that we all use on a daily basis.

So New Smyrna Beach, now that we have entered a New Year, how is all that KumBaya, touchy feely, back slapping, everything is just great if you believe in us garbage being touted by the tag team of Mayor Adam Barringer and City Manager Pam Brangaccio working out for you?

It's the new year and as singer Taylor Swift would say, "end of a decade, but the start of an age." Every year people make their resolutions and every year they think back at the ones that they didn't fulfill from years past. It's a new decade and with that comes the chance to be new person.

ABC's Diane Sawyer pointed out that this year the largest number of freshman congressmen and women in this nation’s history are moving into their Washington offices and beginning their congressional experience. Thirty-five freshmen have never held office of any kind before.
