With the first grading quarter over and the second already halfway through, high school is proving to be better than expected. Although a big transition going from middle to high school, many are happier to be in a new environment with more maturity and responsibility. I think your high school years are definitely the ones you are going to remember and I plan on making the best of them.

Our national shame: Tortorous treatment of household pets and animals in general

We claim that dog is man's best friend, that cats are such intelligent creatures, that horses are such gentle souls, then can someone please tell me why we abuse these innocent beings? Does that seem a fair way to treat our best friends?

Dreaded barnacle a nemesis for fishermen and others who keep their boats in salt water

One of the most aggravating nemeses to those having to keep their boats in a salt water environment is the dreaded barnacle. A barnacle is a type of arthropod that is related to crabs and lobsters.

Now there is this convoluted programming schedule that no one understands. You get interested in a new program, watch it for maybe three or four weeks, and poof, it’s gone on hiatus and a new show is in its place.

Box jellyfish beach invasion has subsided

The recent box jellyfish invasion appears to have subsided. Nearly three dozen swimmers were treated on the beaches of New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach by lifeguards earlier this month while two others sought treatment in the emergency room of New Smyrna Beach's Bert Fish Medical Center.

Immersing the part stung into hot water with epson salts for a minimum of 20 minutes usually alleviates a lot of the pain. The sting of the box jellyfish is worse than that of the common jelly fish, but not nearly a s bad as its pacific cousin.
