NSB cops: Girl raped in wooded area of Bolton Road and Doster Drive

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- An under-age girl was raped in a wooded area near the area of Bolton Road and Doster Drive by a man between the ages of 20 and 30, New Smyrna Beach police said Saturday,

The sexual battery occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday. The rapist was described as white, with dark curly hair and a bird-type nose. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black sweat pants. The attacker was last seen leaving the area in a dark blue minivan and was not located by police.

NSB cops: Man stabbed in home invasion by intruders armed with handguns and a knife

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 27-year-old man with cerebral palsy was being treated at Bert Fish Medical Center for defensive stab wounds to his hands and arms by three men this afternoon who forced their way into his residence armed with handguns and one of them with a knife, New Smyrna Beach police said.

The men burst into the victim's residence through a rear door, 525 Mary Ave., at 12:42 p.m. and stabbed him repeatedly while brandishing handguns, police said.

Clifford Tindle, 27, was being treated for non-life threatening stab wounds to his hands and arms.

Man who drowned in NSB surf was from Orlando

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 54-year-old man who drowned in the New Smyrna Beach surf Aug. 22, has been identified as Angel Rosa of Orlando, the Volusia County Beach Patrol said.

Rosa, who died after washing ashore unconscious between Flounder and Drum avenues on Bethune Beach, was the first drowning victim of the year in Volusia County beaches.
