DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- There are moments which stick in your mind, even when you wish they would go away. For the America of my youth, the most crushing of those moments was the assassination of JFK on Nov. 22, 1963. In those days, Jack Kennedy was everyone’s hero, the hope of the future, and virtually everyone over age 10 can remember where they were when they first learned that the President had been shot. For this generation that moment is 9/11.

PORT ORANGE -- Today marks the 10-year anniversary of the September 11 attacks against the United States. We all can remember where we were or what we were doing when the news came in from New York on that fateful fall morning.

Soon after, we would learn of a larger plot against our nation, one that would also claim American lives in Pennsylvania and in Virginia, near our nation's capital.

It was a day of great national mourning for all the innocent lives that were lost. But it was also a day in which we recognized the great heroism and valor of true American heroes.

ORMOND BEACH -- 9/11/11: Can it be only 10 years ago that I was living in Palm Beach County when a friend called just after 8:30 AM and told me to turn on the television? I watched in horror as one trade tower burned and crumbled. And then the other one was being targeted by an airliner, moments away from destruction.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Volusia County Councilman Frank Bruno and his wife, Mary, have a connection to 9/11: Her cousin ran for his life from the collapsing Twin Towers.

I just watched President Obama kick off his re-election campaign with the entire Congress as a backdrop. You have to give it to Obama, he is quite the showman. He may be short on substance and results but he certainly gives good theater.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- A man walked into the TD Bank branch at 1811 State Road 44 at 12: 24 p.m. Sunday sporting a Nike shirt with the slogan "Just Do It" as he passed a teller a note demanding money. The teller complied and he ran off.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office assisted New Smyrna Beach cops with deputies and the Air One helicopter, but the robber was not located.

No word from police whether he was wearing Nike sneakers or if he wrote in the note "Just do it." And speaking of bizarre, what bank opens its lobby to customers on a Sunday anyway? Apparently TD Bank, which was robbed earlier this year. That suspect was later caught because police knew who he was from the surveillance camera.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New Smyrna Beach Police or Crimestoppers, at 1-888-277-TIPS. All Crimestoppers callers remain anonymous, and are eligible for a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- File this one under dumb criminals: A man arrested on bank robbery charges wore the same shirt at a strip joint Sunday Night that he had on when he walked into the TD Bank earlier in the day and robbed it, hoping to woo the ladies with some cash for hot sex. But he was so caught up in his carnal desires he forgot to change the shirt with the Nike slogan known the world over -- "Just Do It" -- where he was instantly recognized from TV news reports.

ORMOND BEACH -- Sebastian Janikowski, the pride of Seabreeze High School, kicked his way into the NFL record books for the Oakland Raiders with a 63-yard field goal on the final play of the first half against the homestanding Denver Broncos.
