Ponce Inlet's finest passes on

Ponce Inlet Police Chief Wayne LurcockNSBNews.net sends its condolences to the family and friends of Ponce Inlet Police Chief Wayne Lurcock who passed away suddenly this morning. He was 60 years old.

One friend in particular is Max Binz, the department's lieutenant, who returned my call and spoke briefly since he was with Chief Lurcock's immediate family at the funeral home.

Asked to describe his relationship with Lurcock, Bin responded in a cracking voice: "He meant so much to me. It's beyond words to describe. He was my best friend."

Lurcock was hired Oct. 1, just five days shy of his one-year anniversary as Ponce Inlet's top cop. He had a long and distinguished career as a lieutenant with the Daytona Beach Police Department before that.

Working on some glitches

We have had some technical glitches related to necessary upgrades to add more pages, including crime, elections and marketing.

We will bring you the complete story on Edgewater towing situation, including nearly a dozen videos from the meeting and our exclusive weekend ride along with Myron Hammond of Edgewater Towing, who won a new two-year contract with the city of Edgewater after a heated Monday night meeting, which drew an extra large crowd due to our short advance story.

We'll also update our stories on the Hampton Inn construction, the Volusia County budget and the new salary structure for the advertising authorities.

Sera and I are very excited about the progress we're making in providing even more content.
