NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The body of a 25-year-old old out-of-state swimmer reported missing at 12:30 p.m. in the surf near the Flagler Avenue approach was recovered nearly nine hours later after apparently washing up on shore.

OAK HILL -- City Commissioner and Vice Mayor Jeff Bracy thinks it's disgraceful that District 3 County Councilwoman Deb Denys has shown no interest in tonight's public candidate debates sponsored and moderated by Headline Surfer® at City Hall in Volusia County's smallest and most-often neglected city, which doesn't even have water and sewer in a 21st-century world.

ORMOND BEACH -- Circuit Judge candidate Adam Warren understands understands that in order to run a multi-county campaign he needs to generate as much funding as possible in three weeks ahead leading up to early voting and the August 26 primary in his quest for a circuit judgeship.

Tonight, Warren will play host tonight to yet another fundraiser, this time at what among to his is now his is holding a fundraiser from 5 to 7 tonight at the Beach Bucket Bar & Grill, 867 S. Atlantic Ave., Ormond Beach.

"Every opportunity to raise the rtevenue needed to commiunicate with voters is vital at this time," stressed Warren, who has so far raised cloe to $50,000.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Volusia County Beach Safety flew the yellow flag today for moderate rip current conditions with nearly two dozen people caught in rip currents who had to be rescued.

Besides 21 rescues, there were some other issues for breach safety personnel to contend with on this hot Saturday.

Troopers reconstruct a hit-and-run scenario on the hood of a patrol vehicle at the Grandview Pointe Apartments in Orlando where a 3-year-old girl was struck by a car, according to her mother. The toddler died at the hospital. A 1-year-old boy was killed in an unrelated mishap 12 hours later involving an SUV backing out of a driveway on nearby Mosshart Lane.
 

ORLANDO -- Tragedy struck two Orange County families, each of whom suffered the death of a toddler just 12 hours apart -- a 3-year-old girl run over in a hit-and-run Friday night and a 1-year-old boy struck and killed Saturday morning by his mother's boyfriend backing out of the driveway, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
