New Smyrna Beach brush fire extinguished over the weekend, but statewide more than 100 fires burning
The 8.5-acre fire off Pioneer Trail and Jungle Road was fully contained by 4 p.m., Sunday, officials with the Florida Forest Service in Bunnell told Headline Surfer, adding there were no evacuations and no structures were threatened by the nearby flames.
"We are continuing to closely monitor these wildfires and do everything we can to ensure our firefighters and first responders have all the resources they need to protect our communities," Scott said.
