DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The race for the face of Volusia County government has gotten ramped up with the driving force behind keeping cars on the beach seeking the chairmanship of the County Council in the 2016 elections.

Greg Gimbert, leader of the political action committee, Let Volusia Vote, joins an already-crowded field for the lead post on the seven-member elected body that sits on the dais of the Frank T. Bruno Jr. County Council chambers in DeLand.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Nineteen-year-old surfer dude Daniel True has earned his red badge of courage and he has a rather large shark bite wound on his right foot to prove it. That's no lie.

I recently attended a wedding in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. The flight out of Orlando on Southwest had a layover in Chicago with a final destination in Newark, N.J.

We rented a car in Newark, spent time with family in Staten Island, then drove four hours upstate to Lake George. The wedding was held at a church in Glens Falls.
