EDGEWATER, Fla. -- There's the old saying that wanted suspects can go on the run, but not far enough from the long arm of the law - at least not in the case of James Seilor.

Seiler, the shooting suspect from the road rage incident with another motorist back on July 15 before fleeing just before Edgewater police got to the scene, was apprehended Saturday by law enforcement in McIntosh County, Ga, just south of Savannah.

"Our Georgia law enforcement partners, in conjunction with EPD detectives, located Seiler early (Saturday) morning in McIntosh County," Edgewater Police said.

Seiler's apprehension occurred just south of Savannah, and he was arrested on a number of felony charges by Georgia authorities, in addition to the felony charges Seiler faces back in Edgewater, namely aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a firearm. It is not clear what additional charges he faces by law enforcement in Georgia where he was being held Sunday without bail pending a court hearing.

"Seiler thought leaving the area was a sure way of eluding law enforcement," Edgewater PD's Binz noted on his Facebook page after his department announced the capture. "EPD charged Seiler with several crimes, being smart surely wasn’t one of them. "

Stephen Binz noted on his Facebook page after his department announced the capture. "EPD charged Seiler with several crimes, being smart surely wasn’t one of them."

Binz added, "Seiler was also charged with several unrelated crimes in Georgia. Thank you Georgia Department of Public Safety for your assistance in taking Seiler safely into custody."

Here is a synopsis of what originally occurred back on July 15, a Friday, leading to James Seiler and his wife, Brittany Seiler, fleeing from Edgewater as described by the Edgewater police force:

Seiler fired several shots in the direction of another motorist on Indian River Boulevard and Air Park Road around 12:30 p.m. on the Friday afternoon of the 15th of July.

Upon arrival, police say they found the victim, whose name was not released, with minor wounds from being struck in the head with an object, a survey stake, which police say they believe James Seiler used.

The victim fought off Seiler with a knife, and Seiler suffered lacerations to his chest as a result, he told cops who responded to the scene. The victim's actions with the knife were deemed self-defense as he will not be charged.

Seiler and his wife, Brittany Seiler, fled before police arrived at the scene. The vehicle belonging to James Seiler was found in St. Johns County on July 15 along with Seiler's wife.

His wife, Brittany Seiler, was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Police continued searching for James Seiler concerning the aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a firearm.

He was finally apprehended and arrested Saturday afternoon by law enforcement in McIntosh County, Georgia. According to Edgewater police, James Seiler is facing several charges, including charges for crimes he allegedly committed in Georgia.
