ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -- The City of Ormond Beach is debuting new flags today that will fly for First Responder Appreciation Day and throughout the weeks ahead.

The flags were hoisted on flag poles across Ormond Beach, in addition to the American flags that already fly.

“This dual flag gives us a chance to show our appreciation for the local law enforcement officers as well as our fire rescue squads all at the same time,” Mayor Bill Partington told Headline Surfer.

“Our first responders work hard all year long and we wanted a chance to honor them in a very public way where everyone can take a moment to appreciate all they do for our City.”

Last year, the municipality distributed yard signs that proclaimed “Thank You First Responders!” to honor their service and are encouraging residents who still have their signs to display them again today in celebration.
