PONCE INLET, Fla. -- A husband and wife have been arrested on murder and burglary charges in Wednesday's shooting death of an 89-year-old woman who lived alone in an upscale condo complex.
Ponce Inlet cops were dispatched to 4670 Links Village Drive after 9-1-1- calls of shots fired shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Upon their arrival, they located an 89-year-old female resident, Margaret D. Hindsley, suffering from gunshot wounds. Lifesaving efforts were begun and the victim was transported to Halifax Hospital by the Ponce Inlet Fire Department. She died a short time later.
"Two suspects were quickly taken into custody in the City of Oak Hill after admitting to a relative that they shot the victim in her Ponce Inlet condo," Police Chief Jeff Glazier said. "The vehicle driven by the suspects and the gun believed to be used in the crime were recovered."
Tyden P. Guinn, 24, and his wife, Micayla F. Yusco, 22, were both charged with first-degree murder and armed burglary and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond allowed. The wife was a caregiver for the victim and visited her twice a day.
Glazier did not release any information on items burglarized from the residence or the type of handgun used in the killing. He also did not say which of the two actually pulled the trigger or how many times the victim had been shot.
The two face life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of the felony charges in court.
The investigation was a coordinated effort between the Ponce Inlet Police Department, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, and the State Attorney's Office Homicide Taskforce.
