Rain should give way to sunny Friday and sunshine through the weekend in greater Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- There's a 90 percent chance of showers throughout today and tonight before giving way to sunshine on Friday and through the weekend, according to the latest forecast for greater Daytona Beach from the National Weather Serice in Orlando. 

Or as Ormond-area resident Jeff Wilen described the rainfall on his Facebook page this afternoon: "Man, it’s a (Gorilla) Monsoon out there. Drive safe."

Here is the latest forecast for Daytona Beach:

Friday: A 10 percent chance of showers before 8 am. Cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 75. Light west northwest wind becoming west 10 to 15 mph in the morning.

Friday Night:  Mostly clear, with a low around 51. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 77. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 50. West wind around 10 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 72. Northwest wind around 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 50. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
