Sanford cops: Man arrested in domestic shooting incident at sprawling Village Lakes Apartments

SANFORD, Fla. -- Sanford Police arrested Keldron Leron Waddy, 32, in connection with the domestic shooting incident that occurred on Sept. 15 at the sprawling Village Lakes Apartments complex, 500 W. Airport Blvd.

Here is a synopsis of what occurred a week ago today: as described by Sanford police PIO Bianca Gillett in an email media alert to Headline Surfer: Sanford Police received a 911 call reporting a shooting with injuries that had just occurred at Village Lakes Apartments, located at 500 W. Airport Blvd. On scene, officers located the female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. She was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. 

Based on the Sanford Police investigation, it was determined that the victim and her boyfriend, later identified as Keldron Waddy, were in an altercation in the parking lot of the Village Lakes apartment complex, 500 W. Airport Blvd, Sanford. During the course of the argument, Waddy retrieved a firearm and shot his girlfriend one time in the leg before fleeing the scene.

Based on the Sanford Police investigation, it was determined that the victim and her boyfriend, later identified as Keldron Waddy, were in an altercation in the parking lot of the Village Lakes apartment complex, 500 W. Airport Blvd, Sanford. During the course of the argument, Waddy retrieved a firearm and shot his girlfriend one time in the leg before fleeing the scene.

The next day, at approximately 12:30 am, Waddy was located by law enforcement at the Days Inn Hotel in Altamonte Springs,150 S. Westmonte Drive.  He was taken into custody and arrested without incident.

Waddy was charged with one count of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Domestic Violence).
