Texas man arrested for phoning in a long distance bomb threat to Longwood Elementary School, cops said

LONGWOOD, Fla. -- A Texas man is accused of threatening a number of schools in the Longhorn State, and one here in Central Florida - Longwood Elementary School.

Ethan Curtis, 27, was arrested Thursday by deputies in Guadalupe County, Texas on charges there.

The schools Curtis made threats to were in Guadalupe County, Longwood police said.

Members of the Winter Springs Police Department and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office assisted Longwood cops by researching the number from which the call was received and traced it back to Curtis in Seguin, Texas.

Longwood Elementary was placed on lockdown and Longwood police responded just after noon time. A search was conducted search and no bomb was found. The school was subsequently released from the lockdown, Longwood cops said.

Longwood Police investigators obtained a Seminole County arrest warrant for Ethan Curtis for a false report concerning planting a bomb related to the Longwood Elementary call.

Guadalupe County deputies took Curtis to the Guadalupe County Jail where he was being held on an outstanding warrant for a terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily injury, according to the jail’s online information.

Curtis was being held on a second warrant with no bond attached, according to jail records. That warrant was for fugitive from justice out of Seminole County, online records showed.
