NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- A 54 year old Winter Springs man was releasing a fish he had caught while surf fishing down in Canaveral National Seashore when he was bitten on his right hand by a 4-5 foot shark, a Volusia County beach safety official said.
The shark also bit the fish the same time it bit the man's hand before swimming away, AJ Miller, a watch commander with beach safety told Headline Surfer in an email media alert on Tuesday evening. The victim drove himself to the hospital for further treatment.
