Every picture tells a story and the clouds Wednesday night here lived up to their billing with a fierce storm that had everyone dodging puddles, hoping their windshield wipers were working and when they got home safety that their power would be on.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- City Commissioner Lynne Plaskett knew the sudden blinding rain was too much for her windshield as visibility disappeared like a whiteout from a fast moving rainstorm while on her way to Edgewater to drop off her granddaughter from school, so she pulled over on Park Avenue.

DELAND -- Maria Capuano could hear the thunder and the bolts of lighting as she moved quickly to close the windows in her living room in hopes of keeping the suddenly driving rain inside just after 5 tonight. Instead, a huge oak tree smashed down on top, splitting the house virtually in half and knocking her briefly unconscious.
PORT ORANGE -- The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Port Orange is having a dinner, 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at its clubhouse, 5130 S. Ridgewood Ave, to raise money to help support “My Angel with Paws.”
