Christmas on Canal wraps up with 'taste and tour' of historic New Smyrna Beach inns

NEW SMYRNA BEACH – Four of the city’s most established overnight accommodations were decked out in their finest holiday attire earlier this month for a bed and breakfast "Tour and Taste" as part of Historic Canal Street's wrap-up of Christmas on Canal. They included Night Swan B&B on South Riverside Drive, Kelsey’s Riverview Inn on Flagler Avenue and The Longboard Inn and Nuns & Roses B& B, both on Washington Street.

SOUTH DAYTONA ─ Decked out with hundreds of lights, oversized snowmen, candy canes, lollipops and dozens of other whimsical touches, the Lewis home, located at 2044 Hickorywood Dive,. won the 2010 South Daytona Mayor’s Award for Holiday Lighting.

The award is done by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and awarded to the best decorated home during the holiday season, South Daytona spokeswoman Jeanne Willard said.

I was privileged to have a chance to be in the Edgewater and Oak Hill parades earlier this month. Each year I anticipate with great exuberance marching with the New Smyrna Beach High School Band, since I am a "Band Mom."

DAYTONA BEACH -- A 14-year-old last seen by her father six days ago is missing and Daytona Beach cops are seeking the public's help in finding her.

Here is what police said of the missing girl identified as Freshllyn Marie Maddox, who was last seen Friday, by her father, Maddox at home at 611 Aberdeen St.: "Maddox has never run away from home before but stated that she did not want to stay with her father. Her mother lives at 757 Iowa St. The family has checked some friends' residences and they advise they have not seen her and she has not taken her meds since she went missing."

She is African-American, 5 feet 2 and 115 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. No clothing description was provided.
