 Many of us have read stories about the cunning of a red fox trying to outwit his animal brothers and sisters. Despite their looks of long, thin faces and yellow eyes, contributing in part to their crafty reputations; in real life, red foxes are more concerned with finding food than with playing tricks on anyone.

Deltona man shot in leg

DELTONA -- The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Tuesday evening shooting in Deltona that sent a 31-year-old man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Deputies responded to the scene to search for the suspects, but due to a 45-minute time lapse in reporting the incident and the victim not knowing who the suspects were, no one was found. A friend drove the victim to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City where he received treatment for his non-life threatening wound. No other injuries were reported.

11-year-old DeBary boy charged with false claims of having explosives on school bus

DEBARY -- An 11-year-old boy is facing criminal charges after he claimed to have explosives and threatened to blow up students, his school and a bank, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Other students on the school bus reported the threats Wednesday to the bus driver, who immediately stopped the bus in DeBary while on its morning route to River Springs Middle School.

NSB debate highlights economic issues that need to be solved

More than 200 citizens showed up Saturday at Hidden Lakes Golf Club to hear the nine candidates in the first debate of the election season, sponsored by the Public Watch Committee and NSBNEWS.net. Those people who made the effort to hear the debate were rewarded with interesting questions and discussions and became more knowledgeable about the issues facing New Smyrna Beach. 'Cudas romp over Pine Ridge Panthers of Deltona, 33-7
