The Magic are hoping the Oladipo, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, can transition from college shooting guard to NBA point guard.

ORLANDO -- The Orlando Magic have signed rookie guard Victor Oladipo, who was drafted second overall by the team in the 2013 NSBA draft, General Manager Rob Hennigan has announced.

When deciding which police department he wanted to work for, Shawn Adkins, son of NSBPD Investigator David Atkins, said it was an easy decision: “My Dad has been really successful at this agency and I have always felt like it was part of my family.”

United Way Women's Initiative of Volusia County to hold champagne social event Wednesday in Ormond Beach

ORMOND BEACH -- The United Way Women's Initiative of Volusia County will hold its champagne social event 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Molto Bella Boutique, 140 N. Nova Road. It will include champagne and chocolate.

Admission is the donation of a silent auction item with 20% of all sales from the event to be donated to the Women's Initiative.

SANFORD -- Perthaps taking a cue from a previous high-profile accused murderer in Casey Anthony who was ultimately found not guilty of killing her toddler daughter, George Zimmerman told a circuit judge Wednesday he will not take the stand in his own defense as both sides prepare for closing arguments today.

After nearly two weeks of testimony, theer appears to be mote questions than answers as to who was the aggressor leading to the fatal confrontation between Zimmerman and the shooting victim, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin by a single bullet that pierced his heart.
