HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -- Authorities said a retail complex housing a Republican Party office in North Carolina was damaged by fire and graffiti overnight Sunday morning. Local police are investigating alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Hillsborough Police Chief Duane Hampton said in an email to the Washington Post that nothing developed overnight as the investigation continues into the fire-bombing of the Orange County Republican Party headquarters late Saturday or early Sunday.
No one was hurt when a bottle filled with flammable liquid was thrown the window of the building. An earlier news release from the town said the building next door was spray-painted with the words: “Nazi Republicans leave town or else.”
A state Republican official called the attack “political terrorism.” Republican offices around the state are reviewing their security, the Washington Post reported.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A 19-year-old special needs student at Mainland High School was struck and killed Monday in a nearby crosswalk while walking to school after apparently missing her bus, Daytona Beach cops said.
